Release 49
Your book picks up again after a broker outage
If your broker goes quiet for a while, your book now picks up again by itself when the broker is back, and you are told if a book of yours is not being looked after.
What changed for people using Bellwether
- An outage no longer parks your book. When the broker cannot be reached, Bellwether keeps your connection and checks again by itself, reading your account only, within a minute at first and at least every 15 minutes after that. When the broker answers, your book is traded and watched again.
- You are told which book. A book that goes 10 minutes without being looked after gets an alert that says so and says why, repeated before each trading day and at the open until the book is back. One message tells you when it is back.
- Refused keys say the way back. If the broker refuses your keys, the alert tells you to open Connect, press Verify and confirm it is you, or to connect new keys on the same screen. While the book waits for you, the reminder counts the stops nobody is watching.
What you may notice
- During a short outage your connection still reads as connected. Nothing is wrong with your keys and there is nothing to press.
- A trading halt that was set because the broker stopped answering still stays until you resume it on the Risk page.
- Stops that rest at your broker keep protecting your positions while Bellwether cannot reach it, as before.
- Nothing in this release changes what the desk buys or sells, or any limit.
Switched on
- Nothing is switched on or off by this release.
Known gaps and what’s next
- For now the alerts are where you see this. The top bar, the book menu and the Connect screen do not show a reconnecting state yet.
- A halt set during an outage still waits for a person after the broker returns. Whether it should ever clear by itself is still to be decided.
